December 8, 2020 The NAB has clarified that the accountability court approves the plea bargain. NAB has said that no accused was killed in NAB custody. According to the NAB statement, the accused not only admits his guilt in the accountability court but also records his statement voluntarily and submits the first installment of the looted money. Plea bargain falls under the category of an offense under Article 2B of the NAB Ordinance 1999. The accused voluntarily takes the path of plea bargaining after seeing the solid evidence gathered by the NAB. The NAB collects the money looted through plebiscite and deposits it in the national treasury. Plea bargaining is done in countries like USA, UK, Australia and India. After the plea bargain, the accused becomes ineligible to participate in the elections for 5 years. He becomes ineligible for loans from scheduled banks. His company is blacklisted.

If he is a government employee, he is dismissed after the plebiscite is approved by the accountability court. Therefore, the impression given in the media that NAB approves plebiscite is not correct. Moreover, no accused was killed in the custody of NAB. The NAB rejects all media reports in this regard.

The NAB will issue legal notices to those who make baseless allegations and ask them to prove their allegations within five days or else legal action will be taken against them. NAB reiterates its commitment to be a humane and law-abiding body. The efforts and performance of NAB under the leadership of Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal to eradicate corruption have been appreciated by national and international reputable institutions. According to the survey, 59% of the people trust NAB.
